It's difficult, gentle reader, to ignore the soap opera in train across the Pacific, and once again, I am drawn like a moth to the flame. Please forgive me, but it is pretty incredible stuff.
The bland facts are, that an ex-POTUS has purloined a heap of classified documents, loaded them up, and taken them with him when he left office.
There is absolutely no doubt about this. The evidence is documented, recorded, and available.
His protestations that he can declassify a document by thinking about it are incredible, but there are plenty that have drunk the Trumpaide, who believe it. For me, the amazing aspect of all this is not so much that he makes these bizarre statements, but that some people actually believe them.
Then there's the cover up. Like his partner in crime, the late and unlamented Richard Nixon, the cover up has the potential to do real damage to his case. Not that there is any issue about the extent of the case against him.
It's stark and clear.
The jellybacks in the Republican party are using "whataboutism" as his defence. Nobody cares - nepotism has been a feature of US politics since Adam was a pup.
If nothing else, it makes for fascinating entertainment. Watching a slow train wreck is always riveting.
If only it was fiction. The fact that it isn't is the most disturbing feature of the ongoing saga.

First up, I'm not sure who "Branden" is, but if you mean Biden, you have been previously misinformed. There is a lot of noise, but absolutely no evidence that he bribed anyone, least of all the Ukrainians.
The evidence against Trump (most of it through his own verbal stupidity) is stark and clear. It's recorded, for heaven's sake! Biden (and Pence) did have documents, but as soon as each became aware of that, they cooperated with National Archives and returned them immediately.
One of Trump's operatives dobbed him by telling National Archives in December 2021 that presidential records had been found at Mar-a-Lago. In January 2022, the National Archives retrieved 15 boxes of documents from Trump’s Florida home, later telling Justice Department officials that they contained “a lot” of classified material. Trump asserted he had no more classified documents. But that assertion turned out to be false.
That May, the FBI and Justice Department issued a subpoena for remaining classified documents in Trump’s possession.
With a search warrant, federal officials returned to Mar-a-Lago in August 2022 and seized more than 33 boxes and containers totaling 11,000 documents from a storage room and an office, including 100 classified documents.

Your theory that returning files or stolen property exonerates an offender doesn't hold water. The use of several storage points for the files goes a long way to proving mens rea. TDS is a well recorded symptom of the left (which includes you), Bobby. Interesting days ahead.

Who is "Branden?"
There are allegations that Biden took bribes, but they are from an unnamed individual, and despite strenuous efforts, no evidence exists. Interestingly, when Trump was in power, he tried to withhold military assistance payments to Ukraine in a failed attempt to dig up dirt on Biden's son. It's the pot (unsuccessfully) calling the kettle black.
I didn't say that returning files (as Pence and Biden) did, exonerates them. Those investigations are still under way. The difference is that neither Pence nor Biden told lies about documents or tried to pretend they didn't exist.
In any case, even if Biden was the devil incarnate, it wouldn't make any difference to Trump's behaviour. If you're in a convoy of speeding cars and you get booked, and the others don't, you're still breaking the law. Try it, if you get booked, and see how far you get.
