Wage theft is now institutionalised in Australia.
This is the result of a decline in union membership which has led to a massive power imbalance between workers and employers.
Then there's superannuation theft.
One third of eligible Australian workers are being underpaid super.
This is 2.4 million workers collectively having $3.6 million stolen from them each year.
No wonder Millenials are OK with socialism.
Capitalism is right royally ripping them off.

Unionism over stepped the mark years ago. If communism was the go, you'd have nothing to rip off, unless of course you were in the upper echelons of power. Teachers and headmasters would not be in the elite class, so I wonder sometimes why they are drawn to communism/socialism/unionism. An old truism comes to mind...those who can do, those who can't teach. I understand there are those to whom teaching is a true vocation. My daughter is a teacher and truly loves her position and input into the lives of children. I also know many of the other type.

Apparently, stealing wages is not "overstepping the mark". Fair enough. In reality it's theft, and the perpetrators, in a just world, would be treated in the same way as any bunch of thieves.

I speak ill of the unions from experience. I applied for a job at one time and during the induction examination and application stage the offer of union membership cam e up. I questioned the necessity of joining and was told straight up, no membership no job. When Super was discussed and I already paid into three funds, I was told no union superannuation fund, no job. Unions overstepped the mark years ago and were stealing my wages, by extorting compliance of the employer.

I speak well of unions with experience - 49 years as a member - 5 as a delegate.
In that time I saw a whole range of benefits achieved for members, and the benefits of solidarity, which creates industrial power that terrifies authoritarian governments.

If that is your take on it, Robert, then Unions obviously terrify the governments of communist countries. That is probably why the Communist Governments run the unions.
