Vale B B King

Just saying goodbye to an old mate.....

This bloke has kept me company in many situations, for over 40 years, most recently, as I drive West. I have stacks of B B King on my iPhone.

Before that, and a very long time ago, whilst on piquet in Funny Country via earplugs on a transistor radio - strictly prohibited.

I'll miss him - the greatest blues guitarist ever.

The least an educator could do is keep abreast of modern spelling.
Picket is the modern term.

From Wikipedia - Picquet - An alternative spelling for Picket
You spell it your way, old mate - I'll spell it mine............

I would bet that you have no idea why the use of a transistor radio was a forbidden practice whilst you were on picket, you know looking out for the enemy and being the eyes and ears of the unit while mundane things could be attended to by your mates, those blokes that entrusted their lives to you for about two hours tops every time you went off to listen to BB.

Despite the best efforts of BB King, the VC, and the Coalition government I survived, and kept my mates and myself in one piece.
The only "mundane thing" being "attended to" was what the Vietnamese called the "American War".

Mundane....resupply....sleeping....reading mail from home.....cleaning weapons....all the while the picket, or in your case the inattentive BB fan is switched off. Your mates should have sorted you out. The survival of all concerned was more good fortune than good management. By the way it was called the Vietnam War by those you showed disrespect for as you casually disregarded SOPs.

I reckon that the people who live in the country have the right to call it what they want - hence the "American War".

As for disrespect - it was shown twice. The first time by the Coalition government towards those who had their birth dates pulled out of a barrel, whilst their equally able-bodied peers continued to enjoy the good life in peacetime Oz.

The second time was when those conscripts returned and were ignored and dismissed by the same people who had sent them to fight in a dodgy war in peace time. It took the VVAA and eventual support from Hawke's Labor government to begin a process of reconciliation at the Welcome Home march in 1987.

Never before or since in this country have conscripts been sent in harm's way in peacetime. It took a morally corrupt Coalition government, lacking the guts to put the issue to referendum, to do that, and the stench of that moral corruption still lingers, and will do so whilst the last Nasho remains alive.

It's time the surviving members of that government - that cabal of obsequious losers - apologized to all Nashos and their families.

Disrespect? - you don't know the meaning of the word.........

You really do need to talk to someone with recognised psychiatric qualifications. Whining and dining mean something entirely different to you. You really should try to build a bridge and get over it. We weren't posting about those whom you see as disrespecting you,but those whom you disrespected by not conducting yourself in the best interests of those you were meant to be looking out for.

You've learned well from the Soviet apparatchiks who sent those who had the integrity to tell the truth to the Gulags - they were declared mentally ill and exiled.
Most of us have moved on from that.
The fact that you haven't reveals a great deal about your integrity.
Read this - I doubt that you have the intellect to understand it, but it's worth a try - https://independentaustralia.net/australia/australia-display/reflections-on-the-fall,4404

You haven't moved on wit.....every day of your existence you wake up and progress to self indulgent thoughts relating to what you perceive from an alleged comment by some nondescript electoral officer over forty years ago, which in turn sparks your memories of conscription by a Liberal Government. You need to free yourself from that burden.

You haven't moved on
I post a small reference to Vietnam in a post about BB King.
You turn it into an abusive diatribe replete with myth and cliche about being a slack digger and disrespectful of those I served with.
Who hasn't "moved on"?

"I post a small reference to Vietnam" confessing that I was "a slack digger, and disrespectful of those I served with,
who hasn't moved on".

Fixed it 4 U.
