Bring on the humour! Think "The Odd Angry Shot".
I'm sure the families of the fallen would not like to think that their sons and fathers had a bloody miserable and terrifying time all the time, and then they died. I think they'd like to know that whilst it could be bloody and nasty from time to time, their loved ones actually laughed and had a good time and spent at least some of their remaining time on earth enjoying themselves.

IMHO "The Odd Angry Shot" is probably the most accurate cinematic depiction of Australians in Vietnam. Kennedy's performance was a gem, and given the rest of his career in entertainment, out of character. He was a very successful comedian, but you'd have to say, after that role, that he showed he was a great actor.
